I would tip anywhere from $5 to $10 depending on the time spent on my hair and the quality of the cut which is generous, I know. I've just always tipped hairdressers on the generous side, probably because, unlike a restaurant server who is tending to multiple tables at a time, a hairdresser is focused on just you when they are cutting your hair.
As a consumer, I sure wish that employers would pay a decent wage, charge a decent price, and tips be the icing on the cake not a subsidy. This whole thread would then be unnecessary. IMHO.
I see in an earlier post (8 years ago) I gave $3 on a $12 haircut. That place now charges $19. The one I go to now is $14 and I give them a $20. They take their time and don't rush through it.
Ditto. PM me tips on how you manage a haircut by yourself. And I will share mine. a few days back, it took only 20-30 minutes and 3 to 4 dollars for me.
we got a barber shop up the road, less than a mile. if you are not in the door by six am on saurday, forget it. they close at noon, and all the parents in the neighbrhood will take every kid around for haircut, I have seen one parent and twelve kids.
one saturday made the door three minute too late, parent and ten kids, that three hour wait
might as well go home.
so i been cutting my hair, oh yes it comes out bad, but i just cant wait four hours on a saturday for haircut with twenty kids running wild
