We've had to use our heat a few nights each week since late October. It's going to be a low of around 32 degrees overnight, and that heat will definitely be on. For NC, this is cold for November. I hate being cold & can't wait to move West to the desert.

I've lived in my condo in Miami for 5 years, I had to turn the heat on one night last year and of course that made the smoke detectors go off!

I was in Texas last week and it was freezing. I had to turn the heat on in the hotel when the outside temp went down to 40 degrees.

This reminds me how I hated visiting my in-laws in Wisconsin when I was married. They rarely used the heat and I froze all the time!!!

Never.

When I'm home, I wear sweatshirts and sweatpants. I have a small space heater that I keep in the bathroom, and it takes less than five minutes to warm it up. I only use it to get dressed/undressed, and take showers. I like to keep my electric bill down.

When I put on one additional layer (cardigan, fleece hoidie over a shirt, slippers over socks) and am still not comfortable. I won't bundle up to function inside my home.

Unlike many of the previous respondents, I live in a place that actually gets cold, versus San Diego, Texas, or Vegas.

My parents lived cold. You know what? They are dead, I have my own money and my own home that I made sure had good insulation, not my problem anymore. I moved to a warmer climate, found that I had an undiagnosed thyroid issue that hadn't been addressed, and I regulate the temperature according to what I want and works for my body. There are more important things if I want to suffer for a cause.

I go by that caveman axiom - "COLD! Ugh! Build fire, be warm." I figure I am at least as smart as that.

Never. It never gets cold enough for us to feel that we need to turn on the heat. I think 56F is the coldest it has ever been in my house, and that doesn't happen often or for long. We just put on socks and sweatshirts.

I like it toasty. If it's under 70 degrees, the heat is likely going on. Definitely don't like it below 68.

If your cold when reading or watching tv wear warm clothes, use a single size electric blanket.
If you want it warmer use a Lasko #5309 space heater...

There are more expensive models with tip over shut off.

It's November 2nd and last night was cold and this morning there was frost on the grass and my car windows. I feel chilly right now and my cat is leaning against me, which usually she doesn't, so she must be cold, too.

I'm probably going to turn on the heat (horribly expensive baseboard electric) today. I usually go barefoot at home, but will have to start wearing socks now as the floors felt freezingly cold this morning.
I'm okay letting the house temp getting down to about 60F....wife isn't and turns heat to heat house to 73F which fries me.

Dust builds up on the heating coils and burns off when you turn on the unit. Probably good to run it once or twice a winter to prevent it from building up too much even if it's still warm inside and out.
