I think he means the type that wash and dry in one unit? Not sure. That is what I had in the UK, although it took forever to do a load if I dried something. I only dried sheets and towels. They are good if you have very little space.

Craigslist or curbside-freebie, that is my nightmarish suggestion.

I think you're ignoring what your loss of time means to you. If you do laundry at home, you can throw a load in and be doing something else. You juggle it between other things you do. If you go to the laundromat, you are mainly dedicating that time to laundry.

Personally, I would buy a used set some place. You can always sell it if you don't want it when you move.

Get a used washer and dryer. Even if you have to have one or the other repaired within a few years, you're still out less money and way less aggravation.

Laundromats = John Waters' films.
Not quite Quentin Tarantino films, but, occasionally close.

It's called ''Re-framing".

I have been doing that all my life since i've been using the coin op laundries in all the apartment complexes i've lived. Before that when I was a college student and it was the same as well... common laundry in the dorms.

I guess no one ever stole your underwear, or exposed their privates to you.

I pay for convenience. You will never regret having your own washer and dryer. Keep an eye out for Habitat Restore shops too. Scratch and dent is great too. Maybe Facebook Market Place ...but you will aphave to pick it up. People are always remodeling.

When we were young and recently married, our first purchase was a Maytag washing machine.

My wife had gone to the local laundromat and upon loading the machine and filling it, she noticed a floating turd from the previous user.

That convinced us to buy a new washer.
