Didn't realize the Black population in L.A. was so small.
That's Los Angeles City, not county. Remember LA has a bunch of small cities wrapped around it (or sometimes in the middle of it) that are politically separate from Los Angeles. Watts, Compton, Beverly Hills, Long Beach, Glendale, Culver City, etc. are all separate cities. Long Beach and Compton probably add another 100K black people. Inglewood and Carson also have large black populations. According to wikipedia, LA county has 844,000 black people.

Watts is not a separate city. It is a neighborhood of LA city.
Texas:
1. Houston 556,000
2. Dallas 321,000
3. Ft. Worth 159,000
4. San Antonio 102,000
5. Arlington 83,000
Yeah LA isn't as black as many people think even In South LA Blacks are outnumbered by Latinos. It's weird though because in influence Blacks are much more influential than the 8% they represent. Latinos are much less represented than their 48% of the population would have you believe. It's the same in Texas as well.
