They count they just aren't the principle cities

DC, Baltimore, Philly, NYC & Boston. Always has been, always will be.

The defining feature of the Northeast Megalopolis is Rte 1/I-95/Acela-Northeast Corridor Amtrak. New Haven and PVD are on those lines. Hartford is not.

Pretty good breakdown.

I think you forgot to include Vermont & New Hampshire in New England.

Also, I'd add Richmond, VA to the Mid-Atlantic south.
