I can't even tell the difference between most ice creams. I guess once I put chocolate syrup on the vanilla, they all taste the same....

Would you care to expound on that? How do you know it's not a rumor?

Default Publix coming to Halls?

Today's Knoxville News Sentinel is reporting that negotiations are supposedly under way to put a Publix in the old Bi-Lo location in Halls within the next year.

Given Kroger's stupid decision to abandon their Halls store in favor of their new store in Fountain City, I think Publix would gain an instant fan base and would do really well. I, for one, would gladly drive by Kroger's awesome Fountain City store just to shop at the Publix bakery in Halls...

Oh, wow! Excellent city-data reporting, JMT!

I love my Fountain City Kroger, just because there is the same cool mix of Fountain City park people that shop there. But we can all go over to the Publix for AWESOME subs. Thank goodness. I never really did find a good sub place in Knoxville.

I think that indeed, Krogers was stupid to close the Halls location. By the size of the crowds at the Fountain City location, I think they realized that they made a mistake. It's never dead there, even in the middle of the night.

The Fountain City/Halls folks are hungry for upscale choices and they have been showing that with their wallets. Good for us!

I spent a good portion of a Friday evening in The Crown and Goose discussing with a Halls woman the delight that Kroger is bringing everyone.

Publix deli makes the BEST subs. It just doesn't get any better than the Publix bakery either.

That's awesome news. It means that Publix is only 10+/- years from the Tri-Cities!
