Nashville already has a professional baseball team, the AAA Sounds. I think you meant to say Major League Baseball team.

Anyway, as flattering as it is that the MLB commissioner mentioned Nashville for a potential expansion team, I don't see it happening. With the AAA team in a brand new downtown baseball stadium, the MLS stadium about to get started at the fairgrounds, and with massive renovations looming at Nissan Stadium (or a brand new NFL stadium), I don't think the city is up to building another major league stadium. I think the 2 expansion teams will go to Portland OR and either Montréal or Charlotte.

Nashville's new AAA baseball stadium, First Tennessee Park:

I'll guarantee that MLB would much rather be in Nashville than both Montreal and Charlotte, NC.

The problem is the owner(s) would have to build the stadium themselves. (As they should)

I could see Major League Baseball expanding in the future. I could see the American League expanding into Tennessee or North Carolina.

I hope Nashville tax payers don't end up building another stadium. Maybe Willco would like to pay for this stadium.

Nashville is too close to Cincy, Atlanta, St Louis.

And Cincinnati already doesn't draw good, and when Atlanta goes back to losing baseball games, that new stadium will empty out like it's on fire. Nashville is not getting an MLB franchise. You can write that down.

I said the same thing about the MLS.

I am waiting to see how well Nashville settles being a 3 team town in about 10 years.

When are Atlanta, Georgia; St. Louis, Missouri; and Cincinnati, Ohio, considered close?

When all three already have MLB teams. In the same league. Two in the same division.

And Nashville is right in the middle. There will be no MLB here in our lifetime unless a city like Cincinnati loses the team and it moves. Otherwise, Nashville will not get an expansion team.

Book mark this post if you like.
