I'm out in Oxford and the necks are so red out here it's unbelievable. Good hearted, hard working, simple living, God fearing people though. It probably helps however, that my other half fits right in with them. He's a good ol' boy.
That helps! I just had a friend of mine move to Oxford..she'll be fine - blonde hair, blue eyes and a german last name...no problems : ))) Plus she has 2 pit bulls..lol
Though Oxford Township used to be home to a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan, it is no longer. And despite the many misconseptions about the neighborhood, it is simply a small quainte Mayberry-like community; where everybody knows your name.
Not only is it a grand community, it is a historic one as well. With its many landmarks like the Old Grist Mill, Livery Stable, Shippen Manor, and once proud Ox Wall, Oxford stands at the fore-front of historic preservation and pride. And in company with its 2,000 strong residents, can the community grow. And has.
As of June of 2008, the community has grown; with the restoration of the Warren County Cultural & Heritage Commission bandstand at the Shippen Manor. Not only is it a landmark of community pride but a center of assembly, as weekly concerts are held there throughout June into August.
And that is why Oxford is so strong, from the strength given by the community, through the Emergency Squad, local churches, and in particular a certain Eagle Scout from BSA Troop 175 for his work put into said bandstand. And the town is forever endebted to them.

God Bless America!
It does have that old world charm. Downside is... too far from 80 for alot of commuters.

I use to live there during the mid 90's. Graduated from WHRHS in 96. Being African American, I did hear the stories. They were quite funny. I did get stares from people on occasion. Especially when I stepped out of my car with my white girlfriend. Only had one racial incident occur and it was resolved almost immediately. It's a cool little town with the furnace and the many corn fields. The lake was known to supposedly have Klan rallies. Never seen any at all. No worries friend.
Commute to Parsippany from Warren Cty. If you're looking for a nice community with friendly people Oxford and Wash Twp are nice. White Twp. Most of the areas are great. Slower paced close knit, but expect to pay high taxes. You will put extra miles on the car for shopping, commuting etc. But trade off is good. Make sure you check out taxes before you sign on the dotted line. It is a big change from Woodbrige. Goood Luck!

That right there is enough reason for public execution anywhere in America, city, country, etc, anywhere.
And that is not racism but merely the survival of humanity.
As a youth that lived in oxford and attended there middle school and continued to hang out with friends from the town after moving to Washington i must admit that yes the KKK is still around in those areas. Washington, Hacketstown, Port Murray, they all have there ties. Being Caucasian it was no problem for me living there but i did have a few African American friends in school who only attended the middle school because there family's were harassed so badly. A few members of the Police force are members of the local KKK, I know because one of my friends brothers was an officer in oxford at the time and was a Klan member. Its not as "in your face" as it used to be, but the locals have no problem reminding you every day that "you are not welcome". It is a very old fashioned town and allot of the people who live there have lived there for most of there lives. Last I visited was about 2 years ago and the lake was still a gathering place for the Klan. And the Police force still has members. Its something that not many will come out and talk freely about but it is still there. Honestly if anyone is looking for a good place to live in the area Port Murray is Beautiful and very quiet. If your looking for more of a "down town" feel Washington is the place to go. I attended Warren Hills High school and Warren Tech. Both very good schools and very active in keeping racism out.

Oxford is a very nice little town. I lived there for years, me a Roman Catholic Italian and my wife at the time, a Jew. We had exactly ZERO experience with any kind of racism. Oxford is a great town, and I would still live there, except the commute to NYC was just too much.
There is a residence only swimming lake, a decent regional HS and it it equidistant between 78 and 80.
Taxes and home prices are low. The town has a grand total of 1 stop light, but there are shoppign centers less than 10 minutes away in Washington.

It is perfectly safe and pleasant.
We have no issues living in Oxford either. Everyone is very friendly and I have not seen any racism to speak of. As for taxes....they have gone up 45% in the last 3 years, so not so low anymore.
