It creates a sense of place for residents. Hence every organization, city department, company has a logo. Raleigh, Winston-Salem, Greensboro, etc. have logos. And no one really cares

I like the Charlotte logo. It's nice and clean. My problem isn't with the logo itself, it's the fact that Charlotte shares the moniker of Queen City with Cincinnati.
In general, my thoughts on logos is that a good one doesn't necessarily bolster a city's image but a bad one can kill it.
Raleigh also recently unveiled a new logo. It's okay and is intended, as they all are, to sell the city for more development and investment. <my lame attempt to keep my post on topic.

Here are 3 office towers not getting any love due to its larger 30 floor companions getting the spot light

New Office Tower along the Gold Line

And along the Blue line, these twin office towers rise.

Also the Blue Line Office Tower

Heres a link of the skyline where you can see some of the new development and a portion of the impressive density of Center City:

And also here is a good angle

CATS wants to build 3 rail lines at once (technically 2 because they want The Matthews Silver Line to go to the airport. The Silver Line will probably be underground through uptown and underground at the airport.

Lines:
From Matthews to uptown.
Uptown to the airport
Uptown to Lake Norman.

.

CATS wants to build three rail lines at once, which could cost between $5 billion and $7 billion. CATS recently held four meetings with residents to get their feedback on the airport train.

Read more here: Charlotte sudying how to bring rail to the airport | Charlotte Observer

Charlotte would then have 5 lines and around 80 Miles of rail lines.

Gold Line: Plaza Midwood - Elizabeth - Uptown - West End
Blue Line: Pineville - SouthEnd - Uptown - NoDa - University City/UNCC
Red Line : Uptown - NorthLake - Huntersville - Cornelius - Davidson - Mooresville
Silver Line: Airport - Uptown - Midtown - Independence Corridor - Matthews

Silver & Blue are light rail at around 45 miles
Gold Line is streetcar at around 8 Miles
Red Line is commuter rail Around 20 Miles

I think it will be crucial for Charlotte to get the exchanges right at the airport and coming uptown train station. Obviously it's not going to easy to make everyone happy (more on that in the next paragraph), but it will be a huge missed opportunity to pass so closely by both the airport and train station and not offer direct access.

I'm no transportation engineer and am not sure how feasible this would be, but if Gaston County wants to be a part of this, why not bring a commuter rail from Gastonia (and any other willing cities/towns on that side of the river) to the airport? The commuter rail passengers could transfer to the Silver Line at the airport, then head uptown. This would also potentially solve the issue of how to route the Silver Line with regard to the River District, as the light rail could be extended from the airport into the River District. Additionally, the Red Line could follow 77 and end at the uptown train/light rail station, which would connect everything. Granted, this probably wouldn't be the cheapest option, but at the very least it would tie the entire rail transportation network together, including the Gold Line.

Bank of America’s Legacy Union Tower is getting taller. The rendering below with all the grass will obviously not be grass. Lots of retail, shopping stores (an urban mall) and 3 other buildings around 400 ft. One being an office tower and rumored to be a anchor tower for US Bank.

Light-rail commuters will get good news in 2018: Trains will run more frequently.

A line into Gaston County has been discussed multiple times on the Charlotte board.

Gaston wanted light rail & was told to shove it by CATS. The state stepped in & offered a diesel commuter line for Gaston & Cleveland counties. Now CATS would like Gaston to join with them involving the airport line & would like Concord to get involved with the blue line. The last time that I heard anything about that, Gaston & Cabarrus were both hesitant because of CATS' original reaction towards Gaston County.

Sounds great, but none of this is funded nor has any realistic start date.
