No, not the oppressors opposing their new regime but the people around you, how do you get them not to be a Lost in Space Dr. Smith (Jonathan Harris) and waste precious resources because they don't comprehend the desperate situation one is in.

On FB, I see so often people responding to a situation with "Problem Solved!" and really not solving the problem or causing more of a head ache. I put it more down to our push one button for success world but perhaps it has been out there longer than that. In Naval Engineering, they told us the story of engines splitting and the country hick sailor saying they put something in the fuel that acted as glue and kept the engine going, why not do that.....and then instructor told us that for the hick, when the tractor finally failed for good, he got off and walked home......but you can't do that out in the middle of the ocean.

Now, we might say, "Put a bullet in the brain of one or two of them that does that and that will teach them all," but in the interest of waste not, want not (to say nothing of tyrants having to worry about the ax falling for them, too), even the dolts have uses......if only as blood banks (on a side note to that, don't waste the nuns too quickly for as a chaste population, their supply to the blood bank is less likely to be infected).

So how do we approach it and remember....we all need sleep sometime.

How do you stop the people of your camp from wasting critical resources because they are still thinking they are living in normal times?

You can't control other people.

If you're in a situation where resources are critical with a small group dependent on everyone in the group doing their job, and you have someone blatantly wasting them or stealing them, unless you want to waste someone to watch them, depending on the severity of the crime, you have 3 choices.

1. Banishment
2. Corporal punishment such as flogging
3. Execute them.

Anything else wastes time, people and resources.

This is a problem that most of us are unlikely to have. Don’t borrow trouble.

Well, on the other side of the coin, remember

INSURANCE! Once you have it, you don't need it.

I'm superstitious, doing my part to prevent such events by preparing for them.

Just vote them off the island.

Why did you let them join in the first place if they are self-centered idiots? If they can't work within the group, they don't need to be in the group.

If they are wasting their own supplies, maybe that is their problem. If they are wasting your supplies and resources, don't allow it.

Well, that may part of it, part of the mentalities we end up dealing with. Having never seen that show, I don't know what that means short of putting them on an ice flow.
