Is there a reason why Syracuse area home developers aren't building smaller affordable homes to meet the demand for new housing?
For example, why not build a two bedroom, one bath ranch or single story small house on a small lot instead of a four bedroom, two bathroom home on a half acre lot?
If home builders were to build small home housing developments like found in post WWII communities like Mattydale or like the smaller homes on small lots in the western US it might help the home affordability problem.
The weather can be changed, the technology already exists to move clouds. lake effect snow, create cloud busters, to clear the skies. So if the technology is released soon to the public the Syracuse area is in a prime position to take advantage of the new technology that can control the weather. Earthquakes can't be fixed by technology as far as I know, so to me those are the areas to avoid.
I was watching a vlog of someone from the US living in Kyiv, Ukraine. He went to a deep underground public place in a time of air raids and to an underground shopping area too. The Syracuse area has the hills to easily build underground areas open to the public like a shopping mall under ground that could be used in case of emergency in any potential wars or natural disasters. Might be something Syracuse leadership to study and come up with a plan to build an underground safe haven for thousands of residents to use in the future. Syracuse could be ahead of a trend of this type of building in US cities.
It could be selling point for the city in the future for those looking for safety from the threats of climate change and wars.
You don’t even have to go far for an example of workforce housing. The Oneida Nation built an affordable workforce housing development, which opened not even a year ago.
The Oneida nation should build a huge planned community next their Bridgeport casino with a couple thousand homes. Lots land there and just down the road from Micron on Route 31.
The Syracuse, NY area leadership should think really big. Why? For decades it was in the interest of the ruling elite policy makers of the US to invest in the Southern US and western US. As can be seen with the climate change movement, insurance companies finally pulling out of high risk areas like Florida (hurricanes) and California (earthquakes), the shift is occurring where they see it in their best interests to focus on the future of the US on low risk areas around the Great Lakes due to climate change.
I think the future of the US will be focused on investing in

Wonder if the aquarium project is built if a hotel attached to the aquarium with underwater hotel rooms that have a glass wall with views of sea fish located in each room is feasible? It could attract tourists just for the experience.
If the Syracuse area leadership is looking for other tourist attraction ideas they should go on a trip to Dubai.
