As much as I hate to do this, I have to hand it to those busters from San Fran. I thought that this was a sure sweep but I guess that they're decent (watch they lose the next 3). In all seriousness, I'm impressed (a little).

Its the guys who get paid a lot less then Zito and Roward are doing the job. Teams like Yankees buy their rings.

Giants are in a great position right now.. Bumgarner in game 4, then Lincecum, Sanchez and Cain next 3.. so even if the phils win tomorrow, they have to take 2 of 3 from the 3 best the giants have

So, that the Giants most expensive players are not contributing in the playoffs is something the Giants should be proud of???

Cot's Baseball Contracts: San Francisco Giants
Barry Zito lhp
7 years/$126M (2007-13), plus 2014 club option
*Not on Giants' playoff roster

Aaron Rowand of
5 years/$60M (2008-12)
*2 games, 2 plate appearances in the playoffs

Edgar Renteria ss
2 years/$18.5M (2009-10), plus 2011 club option
*3 games, 6 plate appearances

That's part of what makes baseball so interesting, filihok, often the key contributions come from the players who weren't valued in the offseason.

Wait a minute. The Giants only acquired Guillen in August..and reportedly they're only picking up about $250,000 of the money KC still owes him. He doesn't belong on that list.

acquired by San Francisco in trade 8/13/10 after being DFA by Kansas City 8/5/10 (Royals to pay all but about $0.25M of 2010 salary)

Zito is streaky. He did have a good stretch this year though.

So, what you are saying is that the player that the Giants 'bought' had a couple of good games, which helped them to win their division and get into the playoffs. Just like the players that the Yankees 'bought' helped them make it to the playoffs.

Is that what you are saying?
