ERA is the main stat. Giants have put up legendary #'s in September.

They have a great team fielding % which helps out the ERA. They also play in a division that doesn't score a lot of runs period, only one team, the Rockies is even in the top 15 of runs scored for the season, which also effects ERA. Using ERA to define best pitching in all of the MLB, while ignoring the other pieces than just pitching that factor into that stat, is a reach.

Padres lost 1-0. Magic number is one for SF...and they have four games in which to do it. If they lose the last three regular season games to San Diego, that would call for a one game playoff. I'd just as soon see them get it done Friday night.
