Honestly, we set it at parameters and leave it mostly.

We're cheap on turning it on, but dislike being hot and sweaty so have the house far too cool in summer to be considered Frugal.

Here in the SF Bay Area I usually don't turn it off until mid to late March. We had a warm February and I barely used the heat at all. But the last week or so has been well below our average for this time of year, so the heat is back on.

I never turn the heat off, as such. My thermostat requires me to select either heat or air conditioning. It can get cold enough in northeast Ohio that I will turn the heat on in the morning during summer. Heat is set at 22.5 C, while air conditioning is set at 23 C.

I don't have heat. Keep my AC on 26c and my electric runs about 1.25 USD per day on the edge of Bangkok. 17000 btu Carrier inverter.

Mine is still on. I should turn it off but with the coronavirus flying around, I don't want to be the least bit susceptible (being cold or shivering), so will keep it on and let it be warm inside until it's warm outside.

I turned ours off sometime at the beginning of last month. Temperatures are in the upper 40's and lower 50's, which is still pretty chilly, but our home is pretty magical and heats up during the day. Even when it's cloudy! Small townhome, lots of windows on southern wall.

Last month we probably had the heat on half of the time. We flipped it off on the warmer days. We'd rather have the windows open and fresh air blowing through.

We don't use the ac much either. Sometimes we'll turn it on for 15 minutes just to cool down the house a bit.

It is set at 58 degrees for over 1/2 the yr.
Mid June we shut it off.
In between snow storms & some rain
during our long winters...
we can have a few hrs of sun peak out....you never know how long
Usually in the later afternoon at 3pm on..
You see people suddenly swiftly walking in our neighborhood when the stints of sun come out
We quickly hop on the bikes to cycle up to the summit for 1hr 15 minutes to 1.5 hrs. at least 3x a week
Sometimes 4x a week but usually the 4th time in one week my legs are tired so only a 45 min ride

Not long but it's a steep grade to the summit so is a good workout
We need to cycle at least 3x a week
My husband has severe breathing problems, sleep apmea & high blood pressure controlled by meds
So he is willing to ride however knows my wrath if he doesn't keep our regime
Luckily he enjoys riding so has never seen my wrath

Upon arrival home, we take hot showers then we lay down with pillows and blankets on the couch.
Being laid off now...at 5pm when we arrive back after hot showers, i am often in my PJ's now for the rest of the night.
Being old and unemployment has some perks

Ours went off April 1 and the bill gas bill will be under $18 a month until we turn it on November 1.
$18 a month for 7 months is a frugal as we can be on gas heat.
We will also see savings on the electric bill.
