I know what you mean! I got my latest dog for free. Hard to place, supposedly, because he was wild and possibly not safe, after being abused, caged and neglected his whole life. He had the scars to prove it. I fostered him and just couldn't give him up when his court case was finished. BEST dog ever. He loves everything and everyone. I knew I won a "prize" when one day he was walking super slow, nose down, sniffing and I realized he was gently "smelling, following" a bug down the sidewalk lol. At 100 pounds he is a gentle giant.

I have a few.

An electric guitar that I assembled from parts off of ebay. I only have $300 in it and it screams like a banshee.

A 1978 chevy van. I brought it back to life with a bunch of new parts and it runs and drives like new. Probably have 4k in it but it'll run forever now that it's properly re-furbed.

I built some sliding drawers out of old wood scrap for my workbench. $21 for 3 pair of roller drawers sets and a box of re-cycled screws.

Oh, the seeds! Fruit is good for us, too.

I really, really hate to cook. So I got back into pressure canning for ready to eat meals.

Found a $400 retail All American canner on shopgoodwill(dot)com for a great price and have been busy.

No immediate money savings but I've got all sorts of stuff I can grab and eat. Turkey soup, chicken, beef patties, potatoes, coffee, cream gravy, breakfast sausage even cheesecake.

I've been able to rescue items from my freezer(s) before they go bad.

And it gives me something interesting to do.

Check out americanmeadows(dot) com.

I get seed by the 1/4 pound. Zinnias, marigold, Cosmos, etc. Great value and sooo much cheaper than seed packets at most places.

A little goes a long way.

I’m a chef and needed new heavy stainless steel cookware. Found a nice set at Macy’s for $97. It was originally $400. Two days after I bought it the price went back up to $400.

Kohl's also has about as many great deals if you hit it at the right of time.

I got this Teeter inversion table for $284.99 in late January and will probably keep it the rest of my life. It was on sale for a single day. I had been looking to buy a Teeter specifically for awhile. Once you start to get disk issues, and want to lift weights, it's unlikely the problem will ever go away. With common sense, hanging upside down keeps the problem totally at bay, and is very relaxing. I had no idea it would be as effective as it was. One can try cat/cows, hanging from pull up bars, and the like, but there's no substitute for hanging upside down. I meditate on it in a semi-inverted state.
