To be fair, during September, Kansas did gain 4,000 jobs.

I don't want to see any state fail.

My local public school district (5 highschools) had 15 national merit finalists this year.

Oooh, and they teach evolution at them too!

Just like all the "horror stories" that get spun about Chicago....partisan mythology is often one pinch of truth amongst a truck load of bull crap.

It would be a possible, however, Kansas way to conservative to pass it. I bet we will be the last state to pass it.

I've lived here 15 years and this is what I've noticed.

Sunday liquor sales? Gone.
Casinos? Yep.
Weed? 5 years max IMO.

After all, what do all three of those have in common? Tax revenue that is bolstering the economies of neighboring states.

They were all against the casinos until they saw Missouri raking in tens of millions in revenues from KS citizens.

You can buy liquor on Sunday's only in certain places. I don't know how it is on the east side of the state, but most of Western Kansas still doesn't allow the sake on Sunday.

Yes, to allow Sunday alcohol sales, a plurality of voters have to agree to the measure on a county level. There is some variability depending on the area.

He's means state law, not county law. Say Kansas legalized marijuana for any purposes, medical or recreational, I'm fairly certain many counties would try to keep it illegal, or heavily restrict it. That makes me wonder if that happens in Colorado, does Colorado have dry counties like Kansas does? I could see it in eastern Colorado.

So Granitestater, what % of a shortfall is that? I mean is this catastrophic or major? 10% shortfall? 30% shortfall?

I find it odd that the article doesn't give us any scale which is usually either sloppy journalism or dishonesty.

Likely sloppy journalism. I'd also like to know who continues to make the state tax revenue projection forecasts?
