I spent many summers (and then lived in Thailand for almost 2 years). Loved it. Always felt safe. Except when I visited the southern 3 provinces that are predominantly Muslim. Totally different vibe.

edited to say safety wise pakistan had 3000 murders last year while brazil while same population had almost 60,000 some favelas in Brazil even the police can't get to and are complete slums controlled by druglords, something that doesn't occur in Pakistan

This is a misleading statement. First one must understand, Pakistan is one of the most populous countries in the world (5th most populated). It is not a small country.
