THe witness prot. program is so rare, I think it w/b a huge stretch if they went into that, sounds like the fam. members were just left hanging whereas in most of the WPP, have heard that a fam. member is usually given an idea so they dont go nuts searching and maybe spoil the case that they're working but of course they cant be too specific or it could all just backfire.

I don't think they are alive because no one they know has been in contact with them, unless they uncover something about them that would make them vanish into thin air I think they met with foul play.
Wouldn't the dog have eaten the popcorn? How could there be popcorn in the bowls?

I've read in different places that the dog was either left inside or was still tied up outside in the back yard.

I wonder if someone came into the house and at gunpoint ordered them all in the car, killed and disposed of them. Disgusting, but a possibility. But, would't there be some disruption noted in the house? And, how to hide 4 bodies? And, why was the mother researching Mexican passports for children?

I would like to know the exact time (should be availalbe) when a family member searched the Internet about whether children needed passport to enter Mexico. If Joseph was not home at that time, then it's certainly Summer who searched, so she'll be a clear suspect.

This is such a peculiar case that it probably has a peculiar answer.
It looks planned to me.
It appears as though they just piled into the car the way they often do to look normal to neighbors in their getaway.
Maybe the mother took one kid and the father, another and they took a round about way to their final rendezvous.
Maybe they told the dad ahead of time, so he does not know where they are, but that they are safe AND the dad might inherit their money and house if there is no criminal investigation going on - I don't know the law.

I think it's possible that they discovered a secret stash, maybe where some guy dumped his ill gotten gains before going to prison. Maybe they did not even know where the money came from, just that it was enough to have them on easy street if they became incognito.

I hope the dad took their dog.

Because of the war all along the US/Mexico border? All kinds of bad things could happen when you enter a war zone holding a child by each hand.

With that said, I think they were NOT hit by stray bullets. I smell Christian Longo all over this, personally: THE LONGO FAMILY - Christian, Mary Jane, Zachary, Sadie Ann and Madison

Look up John List. Killed his entire family, then lived another life for 18 years. Got married, even was a deacon in a church. He was finally caught when someone recognized him on America's Most Wanted.

He died in prison.

There was another family that disappeared - went to look at some land somewhere that was for sale and they are just - gone. There was even a large stash of cash left under the seat of the van. Can't remember their names. In another case a woman, her daughter, and the daughter's friend vanished without a trace from the woman's home. Their pocket books, cars, everything else, left untouched. So wierd.

I don't know if this has been posted somewhere but the latest is that investigators think this family left voluntarily to live in Mexico. What an interesting case? I hope this is true.
